Every domain's preferred values are spaced not by equal steps but by equal ratios. Plotted against ratio (a logarithmic axis ticked in half-octaves of √2), the resonant family lands on the comb teeth; the coarse family sits between them. The fold test asks whether that landing is real or wishful.
